Molasses Creek secured First Runner-Up for Prairie Home Companion's Talent from Towns Under 2000 competition for the year 2000 . Gary, Kitty, David, and Stan, flew to New York City and appeared live at New York City's Town Hall on Garrison Keillor's show on April 15, 2000. A live audience, including three million listeners across the country awarded the band second place out of six finalists (It's hard to beat them cute and talented little girls!).

Aside from gawking at the big city lights, the band took a tour of Music Row, ran into the NFL #1 draft pick at their Millennium Broadway hotel, and test drove some fine NY City Italian cuisine (although their first meal was North Carolina style barbecue).

Thanks for all of you folks who cast your vote our direction! You done us proud and we hope we did the same for you!
